A comprehensive car warranty provides peace of mind to vehicle owners, assuring them that unforeseen mechanical or manufacturing issues will be addressed without incurring significant costs. When you buy your new car from the Chevy dealer, you can expect to receive an industry-leading bumper-to-bumper and powertrain warranty.

Chevrolet’s bumper-to-bumper warranty for new cars encompasses the entire vehicle for the first 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This warranty covers both parts and labor to rectify any defect in materials or workmanship. In addition to vehicle coverage, Chevrolet’s warranty extends to towing services to the nearest authorized dealership.

It’s important to note that wear-out, which occurs due to regular use, is not considered a defect and is not covered under the warranty. Routine maintenance, slight noises or vibrations inherent to the vehicle’s normal operation, as well as damages resulting from accidents, misuse, insufficient maintenance, or unauthorized alterations, are also excluded.

Powertrain Warranty

The powertrain warranty offers coverage for essential vehicle components. It includes coverage for vital components such as the engine, encompassing items like the engine block, oil pump, manifolds, timing gears, internally lubricated parts, gaskets, seals, and internal electrical components.

Additionally, powertrain coverage covers the transmission/transaxle and transfer case, along with components like internally lubricated parts, mounts, seals, gaskets, and internal electrical components. Drive systems are also included, protecting components like propeller shafts and universal joints. However, it’s important to note that certain components like sensors and connectors are not covered.

Obtaining a Warranty Repair

To initiate a warranty repair for your Chevrolet vehicle, engage a GM dealer, as warranty work must be exclusively completed by authorized dealers to ensure adherence to manufacturer standards. Independent shops may not be eligible for warranty reimbursement. When an issue arises that may be covered by the warranty, the vehicle must undergo a diagnostic evaluation at the dealership.

This process may incur a diagnosis fee, typically refundable if the repair falls within the warranty’s coverage. Following the evaluation, your technician at Airport Chevrolet GMC determines if the repair is warranted, discusses the next steps, including parts ordering and estimated repair timelines, and communicates rental/loaner car availability. It’s worth noting that recall work is always covered at no charge when completed at an authorized dealership.
