1. Hiking Upper and Lower Table Rock
One free thing we love to do when the weather is nice is hiking Upper Table Rock on Modoc Road and Lower Table Rock on Wheeler Road. Upper Table Rock is a 2.5-mile roundtrip hike featuring a 720-foot elevation change. Generally, you can expect this hike to take you a couple of hours. However, it may take longer depending on how much time you take to smell the wildflowers.
Lower Table Rock features a 780-foot elevation change, but the trail is not as steep as Upper Table Rock. The hike to the top of the plateau is 1.75, so you can expect this hike to take you a few hours. What we love about this trail is the informational signs along the trail. You can learn a lot about this region’s flora, fauna, and history.
2. Taking the Natural Bridge Loop
Another great free way to have fun near Medford is to take the Natural Bridge Loop. Located off Highway 62 right before Union Creek, you will find a parking lot and trailhead. From the trailhead, you can hike a beautiful two-mile paved trail. However, you should be aware that there is a wooden footbridge if you are thinking about taking a stroller.
There is a lot to love about this beautiful trail. It winds along the east side of the Rogue River upstream. Along the way, you will see several informative signs and stunning views of the river. You can see many plant species, beaver ponds, and birds along your hike.
3. Going to the Dog Park at Bear Creek Park
You can also take your dog to the dog park at Bear Creek Park at 530 Highland Drive. They can run off-leash and make new friends, and there are plenty of other points of interest here, like a BMX bike track, tennis courts, and a skatepark.
