1. Prescott Park

You can also ascend to Roxy Ann Peak, which looks over the entire Medford area and offers stunning views of the river valley and smaller hills. Roxy Ann Peak offers magnificent views at sunset when the whole Rogue River valley is bathed in different colors. It’s definitely worth the climb, especially if you want to grab a nice panoramic shot.

2. Rogue River

Rogue River, at 3040 Biddle Road in Siskiyou National Forest, is one of Medford’s most rustic and beautiful places. The area right about the river is crisscrossed with trails and paths, dotted with old-growth trees, and full of wildlife. Sharp-eyed visitors might be able to spot bald eagles or Artic Blue butterflies soaring over the river area and enjoy a bounty of different flowers, including lupine, irises, columbine, and lilacs.

You’ll also have the chance to photograph some larger forest creatures like black-tailed deer and black bears. If you’re feeling adventurous and packing your waterproof camera, you can even do a little whitewater rafting while you’re at Rogue River. Fishing is another excellent option at Rogue River. These waters teem with all sorts of creatures like brown bullhead, pike, catfish, and even sturgeon.

3. Medford Railroad Park

Medford Railroad Park, at 799 Berrydale Avenue, is an excellent place to learn about Medford’s history, ride a train, and get some great pictures of the authentic restored trains that helped put Medford on the map. Plus, you’ll find miniature trains in meticulously-detailed displays, a large and well-maintained outdoor area perfect for getting a few pictures of the trains and the manicured lawn.
