Spring is an excellent time of year to be here in Medford, OR. We haven’t yet hit the heat of the summer, but still, the days are long, the sun is shining most afternoons, and winter is gone. So get out of the house and enjoy it, as most Oregonians will always do! So you don’t end up with that fear of missing out, here are some recommended spring activities that you can add to your list.

1. Attend the Pear Blossom Festival

For over 70 years, the city of Medford has welcomed spring with its annual Pear Blossom Festival, and you’d be truly missing out not to attend. With over 25,000 attendants in recent years, it’s by far the biggest event held in Medford and attracts people from all over Southern Oregon and beyond.

Held annually on the first weekend of April, the event consists of a famous parade, as well as a running race, numerous tournaments, carnival games, a pageant, a street fair, and lots more.

2. Go Salmon Fishing on the Rouge River

Outdoor enthusiasts have a lot of reasons to get outside and enjoy the beautiful Oregon nature during the spring season, but one thing you’ll find in spring that you won’t find later in the season is salmon. Salmon season on the Rogue River peaks in May and early June, and can make for a wonderful and relaxing family getaway.

If you don’t have your own gear and tackle, or would just like to go with a professional to ensure the highest chance of success, we can recommend going with Jefferson State Outfitters at 8601 Blackwell Road in nearby Central Point.

3. Try Food and Wine at the Medford Art, Wine & Music Festival

Every second Sunday of June, Main Street in downtown Medford comes alive as vendors from all over Southern Oregon setup stalls on Main Street to showcase the best food, wine, art, and culture that our great state has to offer. Come down to enjoy the sights, smells, sounds, and tastes of late spring and connect with the community.

Of course, you’ll probably want to have some sips of delicious Oregon wine, but remember to please drink responsibly and in moderation and that alcohol is intended for adults of legal drinking age only. Or if wine isn’t your thing, you can check out some of the most stylish cars in town at the festival’s signature Wine n’ Shine Car Show.
