1. Mellelo Roasters
Mellelo has been serving java to locals since 1992. Back then, owner Salvatore Mellelo, poured from a six-foot cart on a street corner downtown. Today, the business has grown to include a 6,000 square foot roastery and two successful retail locations. Customers can buy beans by the bag in a variety of blends to take home and brew. Their huge java menu includes Italian classics, like Bella Tazzo and Affogato. As well as a depth charge, slow bar, and cold brew styles.
They also serve espresso shakes, seasonal flavors, fruit smoothies, and hot chocolates. Find them on Main Street from 7 am till 5 pm Monday to Friday, and on Lear Way from 6.30 am (7.30 am Saturdays, 8 am Sundays) until 6 pm seven days a week.
2. GoodBean Café
GoodBean Café at 226 E Main Street roasts their beans using a special technique called fluidized-bed roasting. Using this method gives them an excellent quality roast every time. Espresso-based beverages on the menu include Americanos, cappuccinos, breve, and mochas. Their specialties include the GoodBean Dream – a hazelnut mocha breve, frozen mochas, and frozen vanilla lattes. You can also order your java pulse brewed.
GoodBean also serves a range of breakfast and lunch options, such as avocado toast, bagels, scramble bowls, tacos, quiche, salads, soups, and sandwiches. There’s plenty of seating inside their cozy and inviting interior or outside on the patio. They are open from 9 am till 3 pm six days per week and are closed on Sundays.
3. Spin-ach
Located at 1924 Elm Avenue, Spin-ach is a locally owned, family-run health-conscious café. Their beans are organic, shade-grown, and fair trade. You can order the usual espresso-based drinks like cappuccinos and lattes or one of Spin’s specialties. Specialties include the Shot In The Dark – drip with an added double shot of espresso; the Aztec – Belgium chocolate with house-made vanilla; or the French Toast – a pinch of cinnamon with maple and Belgium white chocolate.
You can swap out the milk for a plethora of non-dairy milks. Other menu items include freshly made-to-order juices, smoothies, protein blasts, kombucha, teas, hot chocolate, sodas, infused waters, and fruit smoothie breakfast bowls. Spin-ach is open from 5 am until 9 pm seven days per week. Saturdays and Sundays they open at 6 am.
4. Artisan Bakery Cafe
Locally owned and operated Artisan Bakery Café has been open since 2004. They offer a full espresso bar, as well as a whole host of fresh house-made bakery items. Their organic beans come from local roasters, Mellelo. You can order a variety of espresso classics like cappuccino, breve, and lattes, as well as specialty creations like their Milkyway and Snickers. They also serve espresso freeze drinks such as peppermint mocha, caramel, and almond joy.
Bakery items include bear claws, brownies, cookies, cinnamon rolls, cannoli, muffins, croissants, Danishes, and much more. Find them at 1325 Center Drive. They are open from 8 am till 4 pm Monday to Saturday.
