Every time you drive your car, you should have the confidence that you will be able to stop. This means keeping your Chevy’s brakes in the best condition. If there are signs that it might be a problem with your car’s brake system, it might be time to take it to a Chevy dealer for a brake repair.

Dash Warning Light

Many Chevys have sensors that can detect when there is a problem with your brake system. If the brake pads on your car are beginning to show signs of wear and tear, a warning light will appear on the dashboard. Warnings usually appear as symbols but might display as a message on digital dashboards. These sensors are very sensitive and can detect problems at the earliest stages. For this reason, it is important to schedule an appointment the moment you notice any warnings.

Pulling

If you notice that the front end of your car is beginning to pull or is swaying from left to right when you hit the brake, you may have uneven wearing. This issue occurs when the brake pads are wearing at different speeds and one side has more grip than the other. This problem is not uncommon, as it is normal for brake pads to do this. Still, it is a hazard. You should immediately take your car to get serviced if it begins to pull or sway.

Brake Noises

There are many times when you can listen to your car and know that something is wrong. If there is a problem with your brake pads, there are a couple of distinct noises that will be hard to ignore. Worn breaks can create a high-pitched squeaking noise. This sound is caused by exposed indicators making contact with the rotors. An aggressive grinding noise indicates that brake services have been delayed for too long, and the brake pads are completely gone. Repairs can become expensive at this point as you will not only need new brake pads but new rotors as well.

Decline In Performance

Even the best brakes will eventually wear out. As this process happens you will notice a decline in their performance. Brake pads’ decline in performance is usually a gradual process that happens over time, and it might a while before they reach a point where you need to get them replaced.  But once your brakes reach a point where it is becoming difficult to bring your car to a complete stop, then it is time to get your brakes repaired.
