Engine problems are a worry for any driver. Most drivers get visions of dollar bills flying out of their wallets. Many problems with an engine aren’t expensive to fix if they’re speedily diagnosed. Your Chevy dealer can fix any possible problem for you. These are some samples of issues we can fix.

Worn Oil Pump

Oil lubricates all of the parts in your engine. It protects them from friction damage and helps to reduce your engine temperature. Over time, your oil will degrade and needs replacement with fresh, clean oil. Good, high-quality oil is the lifeblood of your engine. The oil has to be pumped through the system, and that’s where the oil pump comes in.

The oil pump can wear out, and this will cause a problem for your engine. Without the pump, oil can’t circulate through your engine. The components that depend on constant lubrication will create friction against each other, which results in further damage. Your engine temperature will also increase, and it becomes vulnerable to overheating. Once we replace the pump, these problems will cease.

Damaged Spark Plugs

Your spark plugs provide the spark that produces combustion. Air and fuel mix and are injected into the cylinders. Once inside the cylinders, the mix is compressed and ignited by the spark plugs. Each spark plug connects to an ignition coil that boosts the power of the spark plug. Plugs can burn out through use. They can also be damaged by component problems.

Lack of oxygen in your engine, for example, will create a fuel-rich environment. Combustion requires more air than fuel, and the lack of air can cause misfiring and damage to your cylinders. The fuel-rich environment will coat the plugs with sticky black carbon deposits. Our technicians can test your spark plugs and replace any damaged ones.

Clogged Radiator

The cooling system for your engine depends on your radiator. The radiator exchanges engine heat brought in by the coolant for cooler outside air. This system works very efficiently and at high speed to keep your engine from overheating. The radiator can slowly become clogged with debris. The blockages created by the debris reduce the radiator’s ability to cool your engine.

The coolant that flows into the radiator also brings dirt, rust, and other debris. This debris will slowly build up and it can block the radiator. If hot coolant can’t enter the radiator and get cooled, your engine can overheat. We can fix this problem by flushing your radiator to remove any blockage.
