Powertrains and Fuel Economy
All Equinox models are powered by a 1.5-liter turbo-four engine with an output of 175 horsepower. With the standard CVT and front-wheel drive, the Equinox delivers 184 lb-ft of torque. It averages 27 miles to the gallon, with 26 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.
The Equinox is available with all-wheel drive, which offers better traction in tricky road conditions. The AWD model ditches the CVT for an 8-speed automatic transmission and increases torque to 203 lb-ft. Fuel economy drops slightly to 26 mpg combined (24 city/29 highway).
Exterior Features
On the base LT, you’ll find 17-inch aluminum wheels, heated power side mirrors, and a manual liftgate. The standard LED headlights have IntelliBeam, so you don’t have to worry about blinding anyone at night. The rear windows and liftgate have tinted glass, which adds privacy and protects passengers from sunlight and glare.
Interior and Comfort
Inside, the LT has a quiet, cozy cabin, thanks to Chevy’s active noise cancellation tech. It comes with cloth seats, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. You’ll also get a 6-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, single-zone manual climate control, and four USB ports.
Infotainment Tech
Up front, the LT features an 11.3-inch infotainment display. With Google built-in, you can use Maps and download your favorite apps on the display. Other features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and an AM/FM stereo with six speakers. An 11-inch digital instrument panel comes standard with various layouts to choose from.
Safety Features
The LT is equipped with an automatic emergency braking system that helps prevent collisions. You’ll also find a lane-keep assist system with lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, blind zone steering assist, and rear cross-traffic braking. An HD rear vision camera comes standard to help you see clearly when backing up in tight spots.
RS
If you’re after a sportier Equinox, the RS is perfect for you. It upgrades the exterior with 19-inch wheels, rain-sensing windshield wipers, roof rails, and a power liftgate. A two-tone roof is available with different color combos as well. Inside, you’ll get Evotex seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, and an 8-way power driver’s seat with 2-way lumbar support.
ACTIV
ACTIV is the adventure-focused trim in the Equinox lineup. It features exclusive 17-inch wheels paired with all-terrain tires for better control and handling on off-road terrain. Inside, ACTIV keeps all the niceties from the RS and LT but upgrades to sueded microfiber seats for a more premium feel.
