1. Go on a Miniature Steam Train Ride at Medford Railroad Park

Medford Railroad Park, operated by five non-profit train clubs, is an institution in Medford that’s been around since the 80s. Many grandparents remember going there when they were children and having a whale of a time.

It’s an excellent place to take the kids for free miniature build-to-scale steam train rides and see working scale model railroad layouts and life-size rail cars. The park has a family-friendly atmosphere, and the club volunteers are always happy to answer any questions. After your visit, please be so kind as to drop a few dollars in one of the donation boxes.

Address and Hours

Railroad Park is at 799 Berrydale Avenue in Medford, and the miniature train rides are held every 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month, April to October, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Please visit the city’s website for more information.

Take a quick 4.5-mile drive to Central Point to treat the kids at the Rogue Valley Family Fun Center. The massive center has everything a family needs for a day of fun and excitement, from batting cages and arcade games to bumper boats.

Play rounds of miniature golf on the two landscaped 18-hole courses, speed through the straights and dart around the corners in the go-karts, and watch the little ones climb, swing, and slide at Cactus Jack Playhouse, a huge three-story soft indoor structure. When it’s time for a snack, pop in at the Snack Shack for delicious eats and treats, including hot dogs, pretzels, nachos, and churros.
