Howard Prairie Lake
This beautiful reservoir is 36 miles southeast of us. It was formed in 1958 when the 100-foot Howard Prarie Dam was built and covers 1,990 acres. If you looking for a campsite by the water, this is the place to visit. Fishing enthusiasts will love the plethora of fish in the lake, including largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and rainbow trout.
If you’d enjoy more active water fun, you can boat or water ski on the lake. There are 200 camp and RV sites, complete with water, electric, and sewerage hookups available. A convenience store is located at the Howard Prarie Resort on the north side of the lake. Howard Praire can be found at 3249 Hyatt Prairie Road, Ashland.
Valley of the Rogue State Park
Only 18 miles northwest of Medford, and approximately 1,050 feet above sea level, this park stretches along 3 miles of the Rogue River. It has both forested and sunny areas and a marina, providing ample opportunity for you to hike, fish, or while away the hours in the sunshine. A bonus is this park is dog-friendly, and there’s a large area to explore with your furry family member.
You can camp, bring your RV, or even hire one of their six yurts. Amenities available include showers, electrical, water, sewerage hookups, and a convenience store. Picnic tables are strategically placed to allow you to eat and enjoy the beautiful natural landscape. The park is adjacent to Interstate 5 and is close to other landmarks like the Oregon Caves National Monument.
Jackson Wellsprings
Just 11 miles south of Medford, this site is a naturally occurring alkaline mineral spring. The resort features its famous mineral baths, martial arts classes, yoga, and even massages. There are tent and RV sites, and you can hire a teepee as an alternative to a regular tent. Tent sites are basic, but WiFi, electric, and non-potable water are available at each site.
Dogs are welcome at this venue, which provides a perfect place to relax and unwind. Jackson Wellsprings is located at 2253 Highway 99 N, Ashland.
