2023 GMC Sierra 1500
After 2022's significant makeover, the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 pushes the envelope even further with exciting features that show off just what a quality pickup can offer. Take a look at the new Sierra 1500, and discover whether it's right for you with its impressive capability, technology, and interior features.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
With eight trim levels available, it's easy to find the right Sierra 1500 with the exterior features that best suit your needs. The base-level trim is known as the Pro, and it comes with 17-inch steel wheels, auto on/off LED headlights, and LED taillights. Upgrade to the SLE, and you'll get heated outboard mirrors and a MultiPro Tailgate with EZ Lift.
While the Elevation is technically a trim level, it functions more like an appearance package for the SLE, offering 20-inch black wheels and a gloss-black grille. The SLT, however, adds quite a bit with LED fog lights, auto-dimming outboard mirrors, and rain-sensing wipers. The AT4 trim is more off-road-oriented with off-road tires and a dual exhaust system. The AT4X pushes this further with 18-inch black wheels and an external engine oil cooler. Finally, the Denali offers 20-inch alloy wheels, while the Denali Ultimate boasts luxury features and off-road capability.
Engine (Power)
Four engine options are available for the Sierra 1500, and they all pack a significant punch. The standard engine is a 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-four that features 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. If that's not enough, you may be more interested in the 5.3-liter V-8 and its 355 horsepower with 383 pound-feet of torque. The 6.2-liter V-8 is even more powerful, offering 420 horsepower with 460 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the 3-liter inline-six turbo-diesel engine offers 277 horsepower with 460 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The key to performance in a pickup is capability, and the Sierra has plenty of towing and payload capacity to enjoy. When properly equipped, it can haul up to 13,200 pounds, while its maximum payload capacity is 2,240 pounds. When behind the wheel, you'll also notice the impressive body roll restraint making cornering easier than you might think with a truck this size.
Interior
The inside of the Sierra 1500 is outfitted with some of the most advanced technology on the market, such as the available 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. You can even outfit this truck with a head-up display. In terms of the infotainment system, the touchscreen is available in a 13.4-inch size and comes standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The 12-speaker Bose audio system is a particularly popular option for drivers who love studio-quality sound.
Safety Features
Quite a few safety features come standard on the new Sierra 1500, including forward collision warning with automated emergency braking and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Even blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on all Sierra models. Additionally, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded the 2023 Sierra 1500 with a full five stars for its overall safety rating after performing extensive crash tests.
