Engine

Two engine options are available on the Equinox. A 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with dual overhead cams, direct injection, and variable valve timing is standard. Chevy pairs this with a six-speed automatic transmission to deliver 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. You can upgrade to a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It also has DOHC, direct injection, and variable valve timing, but this engine is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain gets 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

Performance

LT, LS, and Premier models feature a switchable all-wheel-drive system. This system intelligently monitors the road conditions and prompts you to switch from front-wheel drive to all-wheel drive when the roads get slippery. When properly equipped, the Equinox pulls a heavy load with a towing limit of up to 3,500 pounds. That's plenty of power to get all your toys around town or up to your cabin in the woods.

Interior

The thoughtfully designed cabin features all your controls within easy, intuitive reach. Your Equinox seats up to five comfortably. If it's cargo you're carrying, the 60/40 split-folding second row folds flat for additional seating configurations and a max cargo volume of 63.9 cubic feet. Standard installed technology includes Chevy's Infotainment 3 system that features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. You can connect all your smart devices through the touch screen. Now, you can access navigation, call or text, and stream your favorite music hands-free. Your Equinox can turn into a 4G-LTE Wi-Fi hot spot that can connect multiple devices with a range of 50 feet. It also features a Rear Seat Reminder system. If the rear doors are opened and closed before a trip, when your engine shuts off the system sends distinctive audio and visual cues to check the rear seat for children or pets.

Safety Features

Every Equinox comes standard with Chevy Safety Assist, a suite of driver-assist systems that help you stay safer on the roads. The suite includes Forward Collision Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking, which use sensors to monitor the road ahead.
