Diesel might cost a bit more at the pump, but what most people don't realize is that the fuel is actually cleaner and slower burning. This directly translates into higher fuel economy, which is the keyword these days for drivers in the greater Medford area and beyond, and no one knows that more than everyone here at Airport Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac.
Of course with this knowledge in hand, you'd think that more automakers would embrace the idea of producing vehicles that are better for the environment and easier on consumers' wallets. However, the rise of the unleaded gasoline engine in the 70's and 80's quickly proved to be a formal competitor as the fuel was so much cheaper to produce for it. Now, it seems as though the two types are evening out, and as such, Cadillac is turning its attention to reintroducing diesel options in the U.S. and overseas in Europe too.
When asked about the move, Cadillac VP of marketing, Don Butler said, "(Diesel) could be a potential hedge in the U.S. because of diesel's great torque, great performance with great efficiency. We absolutely mean it when we say we aim to compete with the best of the best without compromises."1
When can we expect to see a diesel-powered Caddy? There's currently no official word or ETA for a diesel variant of the Cadillac SRX, CTS, or Escalade, so it's pretty clear that this plan is very early in its stages. Still there are some who are speculating that we could see one by as soon as 2014.
