If you are interested in a sophisticated small SUV with best-in-class features, take a look at our 2022 GMC Terrain series overview. We cover the trim levels, engines, performance features, interior design, and safety features of these vehicles.
Trim Levels
The 2022 GMC Terrain series comes in four trim levels, the SLE and SLT, and the luxury AT4 and Denali models. Each vehicle in the family has a sleek modern appearance with distinctive GMC C-shaped headlights and a restyled grille. The AT4 trim comes with Goodyear Sport Terrain tires, 17-inch gloss black aluminum wheels, black chrome exterior accents, and a front steel skid plate. The Denali model offers additional perks, including 19-inch machined aluminum wheels and gray painted exterior accents. Each trim is available in Cayenne Red Tintcoat, Summit White, Ebony Twilight Metallic, Quicksilver Metallic, and White Frost Tintcoat finishes. The AT4 trim is also available in Desert Sand Metallic and the Denali can be purchased in Hunter Metallic and Marine Metallic.
Engine
The 2022 GMC Terrain series offers drivers plenty of power in and out of town. Each trim level comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine that provides 25 to 28 mpg for city and highway driving. All models come with a standard nine-speed automatic transmission and are all-wheel drive. If you drive in colder climates, an engine block heater is available for each trim level and all Terrains have a 1,500-pound trailering capacity for heavy-duty jobs.
Performance
The Terrain is a high-performance vehicle designed to provide a luxurious driving experience. All models come with the Traction Select System for control on all surfaces and the AT4 trim is optimized for all-terrain performance with an integrated off-road mode. Another feature is the premium suspension system with enhanced shock control. This feature is standard on the Denali and available for the AT4 trim. Wherever your day takes you, the GMC Terrain is ready for the challenge.
Interior
The 2022 Terrain isn't just a high-performance workhorse, it also gives drivers and passengers the ability to ride in style. All models include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, front-to-back flat-fold seats that provide 8 feet of cabin storage space, and a luxury jet-black interior. Each trim can additionally be equipped with a sunroof and a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel that comes standard with the AT4 and Denali models. The AT4 has unique interior styling that complements its off-road capabilities, including heated, leather-appointed seats with eight-way power adjustment, and lumbar support for the driver. The Denali trim includes additional luxury features, including an eight-inch diagonal infotainment system with navigation, aluminum interior accents, heated second-row seats, and optional front-seat ventilation.
Safety Features
The Terrain series includes a range of safety features to give you and your family peace of mind on the road. GMC's SLE, SLT, and AT4 models include six safety features, including automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, automatic high beams, following distance indicators, forward collision alert, and front pedestrian braking. The Denali includes three additional features: rear cross-traffic alert, rear park assist, and blind-spot alert. All Terrains can also be equipped with the high-definition surround vision feature that gives an overhead view of your vehicle and the surrounding space.
